Over the last twenty years I have been published by Leidstjarna Magazine, Penguin Books, Countyvise, Horrified Press, Nightmare Illustrated, Death Throes Webzine, Spook Show, and the podcast Dark Dreams, among others. I have worked variously as a business analyst, a lecturer, a private tutor, a local historian, a tour guide, an independent film maker, and editor of Schlock! Webzine, Rogue Planet Press, and Lovecraftiana: the Magazine of Eldritch Horror. My influences include Tolkien, Robert E Howard, Michael Moorcock, HP Lovecraft, Lin Carter, and Terrance Dicks. I live in northern England.
My first published book was 'Wirral Smugglers, Wreckers and Pirates', an investigation of the Wirral Peninsula's former links with smuggling, wrecking, and similar swashbuckling pursuits in the eighteenth and nineteenth century. I have also written articles on local history for magazines such as Wirral Champion, Heswall Magazine, and The Lake, and was a founder member of Hidden Wirral, a local history initiative. Keep up to date with Wirral's murky past on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/groups/HiddenWirralMythsLegends
I am also noted for my storytelling, both local tales and stories from legend and mythology. Some of these stories are included in my book 'The Sands of Dee'. More information on the 'Storytelling' page.
